Sobering numbers
Seeing as this class is full of maths whizs, I assume you love numbers and such.
Here's a look at the sobering truth behind numbers in real life. Click this. The blogger is a Singaporean doctor working in the U.K. Her blogs are really good.

Another truth about numbers -- my daughter's P1 SA2 results. All bands 2 & 3. She wasn't streamed to the best class in P2 where they channel all the maths hot shots to. Am I disappointed?? Nah. She's talented in other ways, like art (which unfortunately won't help her make a living in Singapore but I'll worry about that later).
At the Meet the Parents session at her school yesterday, I heard a parent asking another parent the overall % score for her child. For heaven's sake, why must parents do inane things like that? Sigh....

Wth $2? I used a 5 cent coin = / lol. Maaan, mdm sng is so different from the over kiasu parents nowadays. Commendable, *golf clap* XD Anyway, if your daughter's artistic, send her to italy or sth when she grows up, then you can see her wearing a beret wearing tinted shades snapping her fingers making poems XD
STREAMING in P1?! You're kidding, right? I never knew CCPS had streaming in P1. Your daughter is in CCPS, correct? I thought they just sent you to the repective class of the next level. Example, if she is in P1-1, then she will go to P2-1. Besides, it's only Primary 1, so-call "brainy" kids in P1 don't necessary end up in the first class when they reach P5.
Hello Mdm Sng, thanks for linking to my blog - you are too kind. I hope to see your comments on my blog in the future - do say hi from time to time okay?
eh $2 a bit cheap rite...but aniway mdm sng's daughter is the most fortunate daughter on earth with such a smart and kind mother who is so different from s'pore's typical parents!!! so envy!!! by the way i din mean to lick your shoe jus saying the facts k...
hi mdmsng. hehehe. caroline here. i seem to lost that paper u gave us. haha. so i lost ur contacts. anyway, here's my blog.

btw, so whenever any parents ask u about their son/daughter overall %, wats ur reaction? hahaha.
-cal(:
I'm a teacher too and I recently got *seriously* screamed at over the phone by one parent who claimed that I "looked down" on her son because I informed her that her son was not qualified to do higher chinese. Some parents, to put it simply, are so unrealistic.
Did you see the Newpaper poll? The poll said that parents are not that concerned with their children's scores! This is what I call lying through your teeth....
By the way,my webbie is this http://neo-lorrnoke.blogspot.com/
(your link does not work!)
I've corrected the link to JQ's blog. Should work now. Thanks for the alert.
tcsd: I do visit your blog very often and will post comments occasionally. I hope my students will read your blog regularly too!
shdwhawk: Most of the students will get promoted to the same P2 class next yr. But next yr, they will open a new class for the maths whizzes! That's streaming in other words.
Caroline: I just tell them she's OK. If they want the details, I give them the actual results. Usually that will make them feel better cos I think their kids are smarter than my girl (since they've got tuition and all that). But who cares right?
I think CCPS got too many empty classrooms...
